ePrivacy Directive

Also known as: Cookie Directive, EU Cookie Law, Directive 2002/58/EC

A European Union directive that complements GDPR by specifically addressing privacy in electronic communications, including the use of cookies and similar tracking technologies. The directive requires websites to obtain informed consent before storing cookies on user devices. Like GDPR, the ePrivacy Directive implies that consent mechanisms must be accessible—if users with disabilities cannot understand or interact with cookie consent interfaces, they cannot provide valid consent as required by law.
