Key-Frame Animation

Also known as: Keyframe Animation, Keyframing

Key-frame animation is a technique in computer graphics where an animator defines specific poses or states (key frames) at particular points in time, and the computer automatically generates the intermediate frames (interpolation) to create smooth motion between them. In accessibility applications, key-frame animation is used to create sign language avatars, animated gesture demonstrations, and dynamic visual aids. For sign language representation, key frames define the hand positions, orientations, and finger configurations at critical points in a sign, with interpolation producing fluid transitions that approximate natural signing movement.
